Affirm the Challenge; Ride a Mile
My wife, Marie’s health has been a test as to where my priorities should be. There are solutions that have arisen that she will be cared for.
Marie has given her consent for my 5th Ride For Peace; she realizes how important a Peaceful World is to me.
Our Creator has left a beautiful world in place to provide all our needs. mankind has also been given a choice; we can get selfish and kill, or we can nurture our gift and share.
Join me for our 5th Ride for Peace. Our committee has programmed an interesting, eight day trip. We leave the Bell Tower at NC State University at 8:00 am on Saturday, May 20th and arrive in DC on Saturday May 27st ”

The Logistics committee has worked hard to improve the route this year. Their goals were (1) to maximize safety of the riders, (2) to increase opportunities to interact with schools and colleges in order to better spread the message of peace, and (3) to select safe, appropriate camp grounds and locations so that riders and support staff have a common “ride experience”
There are four good opportunities planned to publicize the ride and its goals and each day will start with a chance for supporters to join riders to:
“Affirm the challenge – ride a mile”–

The personal journey becomes a challenge: Sam’s Ride for Peace is in collaboration with NC Veterans For Peace and FiLMS for World Peace to transform “The Ride” into a movement that reaches more young and diverse people. We are creating a network of riders from college campuses, other Veterans For Peace chapters, activists and beyond, to ultimately converge on Arlington National Cemetery ( Iwo Jima Memorial) where the challenge will be marked by riders walking there bikes around the graves of the fallen as they show respect for victims of violence from all over the world with the expectation that government representatives, veterans and civilians affirm the World Peace Challenge together before we deliver our call for a peace economy on Saturday, May 27th at noon. The National Veterans for Peace will use the Ride to kick-off their Legislative Week with the theme: “Move the Money”.
Our movie documents the character driven stories behind this movement from the 2014 ride and the realization that it needs to grow beyond its 90 year old leader, World War II Veteran-Sam Winstead, while he can still continue his annual 350 mile bike ride for peace. None of the organizing team members live in the same city and are challenged by family obligations and threatening health to help realize a vision that will reach the youth in 2015 before it is too late.
